This Saturday, March 22, marks a significant occasion for El Paso as the long-awaited Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC) opens its doors at 201 W. Franklin Ave. This culturally transformative space promises to be more than just a building; it symbolizes a deep respect for the history and contributions of the Mexican American community. The grand opening will showcase a variety of activities, including guided tours, hands-on engagements, and two new exhibits. With a remarkable 41,000-square-foot layout, the MACC will serve as a dynamic venue for exhibitions and performances, bringing a wealth of artistic expression to the local community.
Celebrate Water Awareness at UTEP
As part of the University of Texas at El Paso's (UTEP) commitment to raising awareness around global water issues, Water Week 2025 will also run through March 22. Inspired by World Water Day, this year's theme, "Water: States and Transformations," delves into the evolving challenges in water management. Throughout this week, UTEP will host various interdisciplinary events—including workshops, research presentations, and student posters—designed to engage and inform the community about the vital importance of water conservation.
Community Spirit Shines at Local Events
This Saturday also brings the annual Be My Neighbor Day at ESC Region 19 Head Start, allowing families to foster kindness and community spirit. Children will have the chance to meet their favorite characters from PBS' "Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood," interact with local first responders, and participate in hands-on activities—all while contributing to a blanket drive for the El Paso Center for Children.
